Letters to Parents/Carers 2023-4
School Streets 18/9/23
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you all for your support so far with the School Street launch. A number of people have approached me, our superintendents, Mr Allen and Mr Benson and the School Streets staff saying that the area outside of school is much safer for their children now. This is the aim of the project, but it is also to encourage more walking, wheeling and cycling to school. We do note that this is not always possible, and therefore have attached a map showing alternative parking locations which could be used. Please view this map to see a range of alternative parking places within a walking distance of the school: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1AY3iDKn9xyZAKLtYeMDOHUGp1YZVQ_A&ll=53.80798406380488%2C-1.5454330999999932&z=18.
No waiting restrictions
Just to remind you that single yellow lines mean no waiting during the specified times.
Single yellow lines can be found on the Lofthouse Place/Blackman Lane junction and several other positions near the school.
The specified times in this instance are 8am-8pm. It is therefore not permitted to park, wait or drop off/pick-up in these positions.
We have been informed that law enforcement and parking wardens will be making more regular checks than previously in School Streets areas.
To keep the surrounding streets safe and pleasant for the pupils to walk, please refrain from parking on junction mouths (blocking visibility) or stopping in the road and always take extra care when driving near the school.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards,
Mrs M. Duffy
