Wider Curriculum and Enrichment

At Blenheim we want every child to achieve and thrive. A key aspect of this is the enrichment and wider opportunities we provide for our students. Blenheim Primary School provides an extensive range of enrichment and wider opportunities, strategically leveraging its proximity to Leeds city centre to offer students diverse, curriculum-linked experiences. From creating aspirational opportunities through trips like ‘Degree in a Day’ at Leeds University, or learning about opera in a sing and create online workshop with the Royal Ballet and Opera, to showcasing careers in STEM at STEM Fest to our high achieving Science and D&T children in Year 5 and Year 6, Blenheim Primary School wants all children to prosper despite any barriers they may come up against. Enrichment and extraordinary experiences give children opportunities to try new and varied activities that develop character. They help to teach life skills that benefit children beyond the classroom, and can develop an appreciation for cultural and community issues, teamwork and social responsibility. Linking to our school ethos, ‘Aiming High in the Heart of the City’ we aim to identify the skills our children have and give them an opportunity to showcase these skills and abilities. This could be additional music lessons for children who excel in music lessons, singing in Leeds City Centre with the school choir or giving children the opportunity to audition and perform their gift at the annual ‘Blenheim’s Got Talent’. We want the children in our school to flourish and understand what they are good at.
